Lawrence Avenue was the street I lived on during my early years as a college student in Lawrence, KS. I spent most of my time writing songs and recording rather than studying some of the more “practical” majors I had chosen. I have always had such a passion for music and this album highlights some of the very earliest songs I had ever put to tape. I tried to be selective when choosing these 10 tracks because I thought these songs really emphasized my character and early evolution as a songwriter. They are also a really nice window into what was going on in the world at the time and my headspace while living through it.
The cover photo was taken by my brother for his photography class. It really captures my essence as I sat in our reading and record listening room upstairs overlooking beautiful hills, trees and a golf course. We used to sit up there and actually listen to records and occasionally enjoy some of the PBS programming we could barely pick up on our little box tv. It was a very inspiring position perched atop the world. I wrote many, many songs here. I did begin recording full albums near the end of 2006 but I thought this collection should officially be added to my discography. I hope you enjoy it!
